Andrew Miller, B.Sc., A.Ag., is an Environmental Technician and Articling Agrologist with over six years of experience in environmental monitoring, reclamation, hazardous materials assessment, and PCM analysis. He has managed groundwater and soil vapour monitoring programs, Phase I ESAs, spill response, remediation, and fuel tank decommissioning, supporting compliance across a range of industrial and development projects. Before joining Sphere, Andrew contributed to large-scale environmental initiatives throughout BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.

Outside of work, Andrew enjoys mountain biking, skiing, fishing, camping, and spending time with his partner and their dog, Finn.

Evelyn is an Environmental Technician with more than a decade of international experience in environmental health and safety. She specializes in hazardous materials surveys, asbestos, lead, and mould characterization, risk assessments, safe work procedures, exposure control plans, and indoor air quality evaluations. She holds a Bachelor of Technology in Geology, a NEBOSH diploma in Hazardous Waste Transportation, WSBC Level-S Certification, and XRF Operator Certification. Evelyn is currently expanding her skills through the Environmental Monitoring program at UNBC.

Outside of technical work, Evelyn is inspired by art and design and is in the early stages of launching her own clothing line.

Jeremy Phelan holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science with a chemistry concentration from the University of Calgary, and provides leadership as a Senior Environmental Scientist across Sphere’s Hygiene, Analytical Laboratory, and Environmental Monitoring & Assessment practice areas. His expertise includes hazardous materials assessment, occupational exposure risk, laboratory analysis, contaminated sites, and human health and ecological risk assessment. Jeremy helps clients in hydroelectric; land development, housing, mining, forestry, transportation, and institutional sectors find effective and compliant environmental solutions.

Outside of work, he can often be found surfing, skiing, mountain biking, or playing team sports. He also serves as President of the Nelson Hoops Association.

Kelvin Tang holds a B.Sc. with concentrations in Chemistry and Life Sciences from UBC and has nine years of laboratory experience in the hazardous materials industry. He specializes in asbestos analysis (EPA 600/R-93/116 and NIOSH 7400 methods), lead testing as a certified NRCan XRF operator and trainer, and mould analysis. Kelvin has contributed to the development of in-house mould methodology and has completed numerous proficiency testing rounds through NVLAP, CALA, and AIHA. As a Laboratory Manager, he has led teams, trained analysts, and maintained high standards in quality and compliance.

In his spare time, Kelvin enjoys travel, cultural exploration, and sharing great food with friends and family.

Nolan recently joined Sphere as a Junior Environmental Technician and is excited to begin his career in hazardous materials and environmental consulting. He holds a B.A. in Geography and Environmental Studies from Thompson Rivers University and an Environmental Monitoring Certificate from UNBC. Born and raised in Nelson, Nolan is thrilled to build his professional path in the community he calls home.

In his spare time, he enjoys camping, hiking, hockey in winter, golfing in summer, and competing against colleagues in the Nelson Beer Can League.

Opal Johnson-Allen brings nearly twenty years of accounting and administrative experience to Sphere. After relocating from Jamaica, she completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management and now supports the company through full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll, invoicing, and office operations. She is known for her steady professionalism and commitment to supporting both the team and clients.

Opal is also an active community volunteer in Castlegar, coaching with Special Olympics BC and serving on the 581 Air Cadets Squadron Sponsoring Committee.

Ryan Blake is a mechanical engineering technologist with a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayne State University. Ryan has professional credentials to conduct hazardous materials assessments and industrial hygiene activities for municipalities, energy utilities, health authorities, insurance, restoration, construction, real estate, private commercial, and homeowner clients throughout the Okanagan and Kootenay regions.

Ryan has over nine years of experience in the hazardous materials field and has been involved in hundreds of projects related to hazardous materials surveys, risk assessment and exposure control plan development, abatement monitoring for renovation, restoration, and/or demolition of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional structures focusing predominantly on characterization of asbestos, lead-based paint, and mold.

With more than 35 years of experience in hazardous building materials management and abatement, Steve brings a deep national perspective to Sphere’s Burnaby office. He has held ownership and senior management roles and has designed hazmat solutions for maintenance, renovations, seismic upgrades, building envelope work, and demolition projects for a variety of clients including health authorities and school districts. His expertise includes assessment of asbestos, lead, mould, mercury, ozone-depleting substances, and PCBs across residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional settings. Steve specializes in supporting assessment work in sensitive environments including hospitals and schools.

Steve enjoys sailing, hiking, kayaking, and exploring coastal landscapes.
